Recycling Starts Here
In our local communities, commercial recycling is embedded into every aspect of our lives from our own households and neighborhoods to schools, banks, restaurants, theaters, airports, and every industry in between. Every day the average American throws out 4.5 pounds of trash. Today, with our landfills rapidly reaching capacity, recycling has become the optimum way to reduce the amount of waste dumped into landfills. According to The United States Environmental Protection Agency, 66% of the materials we dispose of every day could be recycled. UPW is here and ready to assist your business with keeping in compliance with mandatory statewide recycling regulations. Recycling starts here but it continues because of you.
How Does It Work?
UPW makes commercial recycling clean and easy. Incorporating a recycling program in your business can not only save you money, it also creates a healthier environment for you and your community. We offer a variety of recycling containers for all commodities including cardboard, paper, glass, aluminum, or mixed recyclables that can be serviced on a weekly basis. Label your office waste baskets with “recycle only” stickers to simplify recycling. Instruct your housekeeping crew to dispose of recyclables in the recycling container instead of the trash container. You can carry your recyclables from your home or work directly to your recycling container with a reusable shopping bag. Always on the go? Keep your car clutter free by keeping your reusable bag in your car to collect and carry recyclables. Carry your reusable bag with you when using public transportation and help promote recycling and cleaner living. Don’t know what’s recyclable? No problem. Click here and find out. It’s that easy.
Where Your Trash Goes?
UPW has developed a long-term relationship for the transfer and diversion of commercial, multi-family and residential waste with the Los Angeles County Sanitation District (LACSD). The LACSD operates the Puente Hills MRF (PHMRF), a state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facility and Transfer Station capable of receiving and processing up to 4,400 tons per day of municipal solid waste. UPW utilizes the MRF to transfer and process discrete portions of waste streams in order to enhance diversion.
