Phoenix Waste
and Recycling (Phoenix) and United Pacific
Waste (UPW) are
two companies that have developed a solution for the landfill
disposal, recycling mandates and collection challenges that
face our environment today.
Phoenix Waste and Recycling
Services is a company dedicated to municipal contracts and
special
franchises while United
Pacific Waste is focused on refuse collection and recycling
at commercial, industrial and construction locations.
The two
companies combine for a single goal with three objectives
for Southern California:
- Environment
- Economy
- Commitment
With an obligation to the Environment,
a focus on the Economy and a Commitment to our client cities
and customers, Phoenix and UPW are the new leaders in Integrated
Waste Management for the State of California.
The management team
for both Phoenix and UPW is made up of family members combining
experience that spans over 100
years in refuse collection and recycling. This experience
is critical with today’s increasing environmental requirements,
dwindling landfill space and escalating collection and
disposal costs.
Rouben Kandilian, the C.E.O.
of Phoenix and UPW, developed and grew the Los Angeles based
firm
of Zakaroff Recycling
Services which was started in 1925 by his father more than
80 years ago. Rouben started his career at a very young
age using a rudimentary system of collection. Along with
his
father, Rouben collected cardboard, metal, glass, computer
and office paper and wood from Los Angeles businesses,
offices, restaurants, and manufacturers to save money and
reduce materials
going to the landfill.
Rouben used this experience,
along with his children Michael and Shana and other
family members, to build the companies, Phoenix
and UPW, in order to deal
with and manage the environmental problems faced by Southern
California
today.
To accomplish its goals, Phoenix
uses State of the Art collection and processing technology
for municipal
clients
while UPW
maintains a large number of refuse and recycling franchises
focused on implementing responsible environmental solutions.
Fleet
of Refuse and Recycling Vehicles
Phoenix and UPW maintain
an expansive fleet of vehicles for refuse collection, recycling
and disposal for many
municipal, commercial and industrial clients.
The
following is the list of vehicles currently owned and operated
by the two firms:
- Automated Residential
Vehicles: 20
- Commercial Frontload Vehicles: 27
- Roll-off Vehicles:
15
- Scout Vehicles: 6
- Bin Delivery Vehicles: 4
An extensive Fleet
Maintenance Program is conducted to ensure Highway Safety Requirements,
Air Emissions and Health and Safety requirements
are met.
The Fleet Maintenance Program
is operated out
of the Phoenix/UPW Maintenance Facility. The
Maintenance Facility can repair collection vehicles, fabricate
containers and maintain a fleet of over 100 vehicles.
